Yesterday, I started my induction week at CIM! It was a relatively standard affair with welcome sessions and a meet & greet, but I had a great time regardless. Today, I’ve been reading through the introductory content for the Skills Programme that forms a portion of the course, focusing on helping us develop the necessary research and programming skills to do well in our courses.

I have some experience with coding from studying Computer Science at school and university – and Python from the Data Science bootcamp I did earlier this year – but I’ve never used R before, so I’m looking forward to getting more exposure and using it for research purposes. We have our first R session this Friday, but I’m planning to get cracking with it as soon as possible and try out some exercises and examples ahead of time.
